In addition to the more typical blog post that is to follow, this post is making its way to existence. Its purpose: to let you know that Kindle versions of two of the After Terra novels are on sale today. There is no contemporary reason I am aware of to mark January 6th as a day of any great import (as far as holidays are concerned), however, in the fictional future of the world I’ve rendered, January’s equivalent, Germinal, and its sixth day, marks Merchant’s Day. It’s a quaint event, begun by the vapid salesmen of the Neptune and Logos territories, meant to jumpstart sales figures for the brand new year, after what are often multiple days of drinking and carousing by most of the populace on New Year’s Day.
If you have read Year 200 and have yet to continue the journey, now is a great and cheap opportunity to do so. Take advantage of your possible descendants’ future habits and grab the rest of the series at a steep discount.
A fictional parallel to the author’s real life… as author and protagonist, for different reasons and in different times, deal with the fallout of someone they love being ripped from their lives.
